I don't know what happens to me when I die.
When you are healthy, you won't think about death. When you are rich, you have friends and family, you have a career you want to pursue, "why do I need to think about my death? It's still far away!"
But as you should have known, you will eventually die, sooner or later. Now, the question is: "Do you think you are going to go to the Heaven when you die?"
If your answer is "yes, of course", why do you think God will allow you to go to the Heaven? Please take your time and think about it...
Do you think it's because you are basically good?
That was what I was thinking. I thought I would be saved and brought to the Heaven if I do more good things than bad things. I thought, in the afterlife world, I would be judged based on how many good things I did compared to the bad things I did.
However one day I got to know that the God, which is just, cannot let us who have sinned free without punishment. Sin? Did I do any sin?
If you have ever lied or hated a person, you have committed sin. Whether the sin is large or small doesn't matter, because to commit sin means to divert from the way God intended us to follow.
And it is said in the Bible, that the wages of sin is death, eternal death both physically and spiritually. Oh no!!! How can I be saved?
So, no one can enter the Heaven?
God, who is holy and just, and therefore must punish sin, is also loving and merciful and does not want to punish us.
If God let all people go to Hell, no one would enter the Heaven.
Do you see a dilemma? God who is just cannot leave us unpunished for our wrongdoings, but He also loves us and does not want us to go to the Hell.
Jesus Christ is the answer!
To solve this problem, God has sent to the world Jesus Christ as God incarnate, fully God and fully man, to pay our sin debt for us.
He died without ever made a sin -- because He is God -- but He died because of us. He was crucified by the people at that time. He could save himself with His Godness, but the very reason He went to this world is to save us. Our punishment is paid by Him. After three days of the death, He was resurrected.
How can I be saved?
The salvation is FREE. It is a gift (which is a thing that you receive not as a reward of your work). You don't seek or work to get that. It is not because of your good deeds that you're saved. It is because God loves you so much and wants you to receive the gift.
The gift of eternal life is received by faith.
Realizing that we cannot save ourselves, and that we deserve God's judgment for our sins, we come to Him by faith.
"For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, so that no one can boast."
